Partially completed Hon. Eng Electronic degree as part of Master’s degree at University of Pretoria during 2010. The studies was stopped because I went to Japan due to the MEXT Scholarship. Researched, developed and tested a working replacement fuel management system for the Porsche 928 S4. This unit was engineered from beginning with hardware design, prototype production, embedded software, Windows interface software, testing, debugging and production all achieved during after-hours. Currently the unit is being produced for other Porsche 928 owners that require replacement units. Worked as full time employee at Parsec (PTY) Ltd, appointed as “Junior Software Engineer”. Projects worked on are not limited to software and various complete hardware designs and schematics have been successfully implemented. Restructuring and updating of the QMS system for the ISO: 9001 standard was also done. Completed VHDL training and the National Instruments Lab view Core 1, 2, 3 and Intermediate 2 training in 2010. Passed the National Instruments Labview Associate Developer exam. In spare time Co-founded Universal Mobile Technologies, a company specialising in developing, manufacturing and redistributing mobile devices in 2010. Currently serving on the board of directors as well as the Manager of Research and Development. Parallel to founding Universal Mobile Technologies, also founded JFK Engineering, an electronic engineering company that designs and develops specialised electronic hardware and accompanying software and firmware. Completed B. Eng Computer degree at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. The Computer Engineering degree thesis was an Artificial Intelligence (AI) chess playing system. The project implemented a theoretically undefeatable chess opponent. Results of the project indicated that given sufficient resources the system is undefeatable. This project was chosen to be presented and to compete as one of the best final year projects. Successful completion of the computer engineering degree required the A+ course that was achieved in 2004. At the end of 2005 the Cisco CCNA course was finished, and at the end of 2008 the first module of the Cisco CCNP course was completed. At the end of 2003 a small business enterprise, Brainwave Projects 729cc, was started and is still in operation providing specialist computer services. Focus of Brainwave’s services are targeted at supplying top-end specification computing systems, both hardware and software as well as after-sales service. For selected return customers low-end PC’s are supplied as part of a long-term, sustainable business relationship. The services vary but the amount of time spent is kept to a minimum to avoid interference with work and studies. Worked part time for Libra Measuring Instruments (LMI) on various occasions during holidays. Work included for example, programming and installing a tag reading system at Ambrosia orange farm. Other work that was done for them include fault finding and repairing of various in-house developed hardware and software. Diagnosing and repairing of third party hardware and developing machine level interface software for the hardware were also done. A full custom network server-client interface was also developed to be used with remote station information gathering and synchronisation. During 2006 and 2007 embedded software was developed for specialised data acquisition, transmission and processing for use in several mines. The software was embedded onto external hardware which in turn communicated with a base system. That system graphically displayed the results and triggered external interfaces based upon the readings acquired. This system was unique because full error checking and control was necessary and needed to work in very challenging environments. In 2006 educational toys were designed and fabricated for previously disadvantaged children at the Fab. Lab. in the Innovation Hub. Various tools and parts were used to create Sudoku boards and these toys were delivered to various schools at the IMAX theatre in conjunction with the National Youth Development Trust (NYDT). Represented the University of Pretoria in the Association for Computing Machinery’s (ACM) International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) during 2004, 2005 and 2006. During a school holiday in England in 1999, research and development work was done for Ultra Electronics in Cheltenham England. Software was generated to access a database and to produce reports that were requested by the user. These reports were displayed on a secure website that was also developed as part of the project. Part time network administration was done at Balcarras secondary school in England, also during school holidays full network administration was done to support the School. Unique projects were developed for the Eskom Science Expo in 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2002. Two bronze, one silver and one gold medal was won in the provincials and one silver was one at the nationals. The projects were all different software projects designed and developed during the school year.
